U CLOTHING

Possibly in love with these pieces by U Clothing. I think I NEED the blue dress. Yes? Ok, it's decided.

FRESH START!

{Photo by Melanie Caselas}

Eeek! I've been MIA for almost a month! I've had lots going on. I just made the move from Indiana to Los Angeles and had my car stolen somewhere in between. WHEW! It's been a long month. I decided I needed a change. A new blog name and a whole new routine. I promise I'm going to be better about posting and I'm hoping to bring some new things into the mix! Oh blogging world, I have missed you!

How have you all been? I hope all is well! Happy September!

THE BASEMENT STACKS

"Books breaking through the wall downstairs, referencing the 'basement stacks' every library has. In this case it's as if those stacks had been sealed up during some remodel, and are anthropomorphically breaking through, referencing the old library, history, roots, poltergeists... Created for the VIA Advertising Agency, which recently renovated and moved their offices into the old Baxter building, which served as Portland's public library from 1888 until the 1960s." THIS WEEK'S SARTORIALIST FAVES

It's so inspiring to see how far Scott Schuman has gotten with his career in fashion. Who would have thought it would come from a little town in Indiana and a graduate from IU (where I went to school)? Crazy/inspirational!

CALIFORNIA

Photo found on Pinterest

Soon enough, Los Angeles will be my home sweet home. Today was the first day at my new job and I feel really good about it. I'm also signing a lease for an adorable studio this week! Life is good.

BEST FRIENDS, DIFFERENT COASTS

I'm about to make the move from Indiana to Los Angeles and it's definitely made me think a lot about all of the goodbyes (more like see you laters) I'm going to have to say within the coming weeks. It's bittersweet, that's for sure. One of my closest friends has lived in New York for years and although we've been states apart, we've always stayed close. That friendship helps remind me that moving doesn't really mean goodbye, just see you later. The ones that matter, will always be close to my heart. Here's a photo we took one day when he was visiting Indiana. We're about to be even farther apart, but distance has nothing on us!

STRIPES & DENIM

I am obsessed with stripes. I really cannot get enough of them. I always have to talk myself out of buying more items with stripes (and polka dots too)! I just love them!

BICYCLE TYPOGRAM

How awesome is this bicycle typogram by Aaron Kuehn? I wish I could ride it around! Sorry for being M.I.A. lately! I have been out in Los Angeles for the past week. It's been a crazy few days. I had a last minute job interview and ended up getting the job! I'm moving out here in about a month! Any of you live in the L.A. area? Let's be friends!

FASHION ICON: ALEXA CHUNG

This post was a lot of fun. I used different items of clothing from Cactus Flower, the boutique & vintage store where I work to mimic these outfits by Alexa Chung. She's definitely one of my favorite fashion icons. I love the way she puts things together.

SASQUATCH MUSIC FESTIVAL 2011

I know, I know. I'm adding these incredibly late! My good friend Mel and I took a lot (and I mean a lot) of photos during the weekend, and it took us a bit to get through them all. She took 1400 photos and narrowed them down to 700! Impressive, right? Anyway, Sasquatch was wonderful. The weather was beautiful for the majority of the weekend and we ended up staying at an inn that was less than a five minute walk away. It was in a vineyard and it was absolutely breathtaking. I miss the view!

This trip was my first visit ever to Washington. I spent a day in Seattle and then road tripped to The Gorge with Kelcey, Mel, Matt, and Spencer. I'm still soaking it all in! I can't wait to visit again! If you feel like closing your eyes and pretending to be at Sasquatch, check out these recordings from the festival on Mel's soundcloud, here. Eyelet you have my heart!

Don't mind the children swinging/falling from the tree behind me, haha! If you're loving eyelet as much as I am, hop on over to the Cactus Flower blog to see another cute eyelet dress by Ariella, one which I ended up purchasing... Whoops! I couldn't help it!

Les jolies femmes de Godard

I'm a huge Jean-Luc Godard fan and it doesn't hurt that he cast such adorable ladies! If you have Netflix, head on over and watch Une Femme Est Une Femme with Anna Karina. It's on instant!

Oh, to walk across the ocean...

Image via Marie Hochhaus

If only we could really walk across the ocean on our bare feet to visit other places around the world! It's up in the 80s and 90s in Indiana right now and incredibly muggy! I need the beach and a good book, stat! I just purchased a plane ticket to Los Angeles over the 4th of July and I couldn't be more excited. I haven't been out there since February, which is far too long.

Speaking of traveling, there is an AMAZING giveaway on the blog Oh Happy Day. You could win a trip for two to Paris! Dream come true? I think so. What a perfect occasion to practice my French! Here's the giveaway: Enter here!

Away we go!

//Images from The Architecture Blog//

If only I could pack my bags and head out to one of these lovely destinations. I love the wall-sized windows and simple design of these two places. I'd like to go away now, please!

Help me pick a dress!

Hello friends! I made the mistake of falling in love with too many dresses by ASOS last night. It took me forever to narrow it down to two dresses! Help me decide which one to purchase! Which one do you all like better?

Here's dress onetwo. Thanks for your help! I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend! I'll let you know the decision as soon as I'm about to pick. Decisions are tough, huh? haha!

Celebrating the warmth with florals!

Photos by Thom Lennon Photography

Aya of Strawberry Koi and I continued our photo shoot with dresses from Cactus Flower with these florals! We had so much fun together.

My outfit:
Dress: Tulle (via Cactus Flower)
Necklace: The Blue Balloon
Belt: Thrifted
Boots: Zuriick

I just arrived home from a long weekend at The Gorge. I attended Sasquatch and was able to spend a lot of time with some of my favorite people. Music updates and photos from the weekend will be posted later this week! I hope everyone is doing well! Did you all do anything fun over Memorial Day weekend?

This is too good. I'm dying to see them live! Blogotheque never fails to make these videos incredibly beautiful. I could sit around watching them all day long.

It's finally feeling like summer in Indiana!

Photos by Thomas Smith of Thom Lennon Photography

Outfit:
Dress: Vintage (found at Cactus Flower)
Cardigan: Urban Outfitters
Belt: Thrifted
Boots: Zuriick (thanks, Matt!)
Necklace: The Blue Balloon

We had a lot of fun wandering around at these abandoned warehouses. There are about a dozen all next to each other and every time I've been there, I've run into artists spray painting shirts, photographers, and even filming! Aya of Strawberry Koi, her husband Thom, and I ventured around and had a lot of fun discovering graffiti, old trinkets, and we even found an old golf cart! Ha!

Aya has been working really hard getting the online store up and running for the boutique/vintage shop where we both work. It's looking great! She also designed the blog that we are working on together! Check the shop here and the blog here. Let us know what you think!

Roadtrip: Chicago Edition

My friend Addison and I made our way to Chicago last weekend. Whenever Matt plays within driving distance, I have to make it to the show. I love roadtrips and Chicago is only four hours away from Bloomington! I had a lot of fun seeing Matt and the other guys. I was in good company (that is an understatement)! Local Natives played at Columbia College. It was a great area over there. We were able to make it over to Millennium Park for some fun before the show!

I graduate from college in two days! How crazy is that? Now that this semester is finally through, I promise to be more consistent with posting! Sorry I have been so sporadic lately! How are you guys doing? Surviving the semester? Ready for summer?
